Mary and the Angel Gabriel - the annunciation
Annunciation means the announcement. The angel Gabriel came to tell Mary she will have a special baby.

Larger than the similar nativity figures

ADVENT is preparing for Christmas.

What a surprise for a young woman to one day be visited by an angel and told that she would have a special baby! After she received this miraculous message from the angel Gabriel, Mary began preparing for her special baby.

All that is needed is to guide the children to cut carefully and to fold or re-fold on all dashed lines.

Tell the story (Luke 1: 26-38) and have each student act out what the angel and Mary did. I wouldn't be surprised if Mary didn't jump up or fall over! Did the angel just pop into the scene?

Luke 1: 26-38

2-6 (grade 1 if good cutters)

Copies of the activity pages for each student
-please use the heaviest paper possible.

Markers or crayons or colored pencils
Glue (white glue would be better than glue sticks)

1 Cut out the figures on the heavy solid OUTLINES

2 Fold on both dashed line of each figure. Be sure the fold is Sharp. gently pinch your fingers along the fold. It is important to do it carefully so the figures will stand.
3 Make one at a time. Put a glue dot on the INSIDE (uncolored side) of each Head. Match as best you can the top back to the top front of the head. Matching is important for balance.
You may re-press your folds to make the person
stand up.

4 Left is a side view. You may want to crimp the base as shown. The crimp is simply an inward fold on the bottom made by bringing the front and back together, tucking in the base and then pressing together gently. Then stick your finger inside to re-widen the base. This is done just so the base isn't rounded on the bottom -in which case the figure rocks and rolls!
