THINK ABOUT IT

Gen 1:1

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, 2 the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.

God starts with nothing- absolutely nothing- a void.

God created heaven. Be careful! Most Bibles agree to call it heaven.

Don’t be too quick to decide what the word earth means.

Read the next verses.

Gen 1:2

The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.

This says the earth had no form or shape, so all the elements (matter) of the world was created, but they must have been scattered in some way because they still do not have a shape yet. Notice the word earth here has no capital letter. This is a clue.
(are not a ball yet).

Water is there, but not the way we know it today.

Can you imagine it?

Gen 1:3 -5

And God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.

God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

What do you think this means? Be careful. It is not the sun. It is not the moon. It is not the stars -
they were all created later.  So what could it be?
How about light energy?

This is God’s creation, so this is God’s day.

Time has not begun yet, so this “day” can be as long as God chose it to be.
