KIDS NATIVITY - PILLARS of the HOLY FAMILY

KIDS BLOCK-STYLE NATIVITY - PILLARS of the HOLY FAMILY

VIEWS OF BLOCKS

Easy pieces. Easy cutting. Simple coloring or no coloring.

These are NOT cubes- though they are really easy to make. They are three separate angled pillars of two different sizes.

A little more interesting than squares or rectangles. Very easy, but has a unique look. Depending on the popularity, we may add the three wise men later.

Great for a broad age group.

You can choose from 2 different baby Jesus images and you could make only the baby Jesus if you had very limited time.

Kindergarten (with simple cutting skills) through 4th grade
Advent and/or Christmas

Copies of the Joseph and Mary activity page and which ever Jesus page you want for each student

colored pencils, markers, or crayons
Scissors
White glue or glue stick
  .

Choose which baby Jesus you want your class to use - there are two different ones, and each is provided in colored or uncolored.

Choose a baby
No other special preparation.

For the free spirits, it doesn't matter how they color the bases - use your imagination.

The pillar "bases" are all below the head. Do not color the glue tabs.

1. Color the three pieces, except in the space where it says "Glue" - do not color".
separate Joseph cut excess
2 Separate Joseph and Mary now so it is easier to cut them. 3.Cut on the heavy outside line only. DO NOT DRAG all the cut paper as you go around. Cut off large chunks of excess paper as you go.
final cuts fold
Note: They should look like this when cut. Print your name on the inside of all three pieces 4. Fold each piece carefully on the 8 fold dash lines.

5. Turn face-up and slightly flatten so you can glue the tabs. 6. Glue all the tabs. Younger kids may benefit from white glue while older kids might prefer glue sticks.
glued tab press

7. Find "1. Glue"and move the tab behind the pillar side next to it.

If you slightly push the "1. glue tab" back (towards the inside) as you bring it behind the pillar, you can more easily get the tab's dashed line to line up with the edge of the pillar.

8. The two pieces should meet perfectly and create a corner.

If you need to realign:
8a, If you used white glue you can probably pull it apart and move it a little.
8b. If you used a glue stick, you might just need to see how it stands when you are done and trim any mis-aligned overhangs. This is least advisable.

up-side-down finished holy family
9. To align the other 3 corners, it may be easiest to turn the whole thing up-side-down to match the pieces. 10. You are done!
