The eggs have hearts and crosses, symbols of love, and Jesus in complicated patterns with small spaces. Symbols for God, the trinity are also embedded in some of the designs. These eggs are not for little kids to color. When I was a child, my Lithuanian grandmother would painstakingly color Easter eggs for days using tiny dabs of lacquers on toothpicks. She did not use the wax-resist method nor the typical scratch method of many of the Baltic nations. In the 1950's her eggs were white; the colors bright reds, blues, yellows, greens, and purples that were translucent. The colors sparkled like LED lights. The patterns and intricate shapes were very similar to the Russian, Polish and Ukranian style Easter eggs. She went to a special place to buy the mysterious tiny little bottles of lacquer with cork stoppers - and no labels. All these culture's eggs are beautiful treasures - artforms really. I just wish I had one of my grandmother's lacquer Easter eggs today. The challange is to complete the eggs in all their intircate detail. These Easter eggs to color will take quite some time to complete well. In some of the designs consider coloring the background in an area, rather than the shape. Get creative.
